Our extra-curricular highlights
Sista Speak
Sista Speak is a school-led program that helps young women at Walgett Community College High School feel connected and build leadership skills.
Students take part in activities that help them learn about themselves, grow their confidence, develop leadership, and think about their wellbeing. The program focuses on four themes: self, health, social, and emotional.
Bro Speak
Bro Speak is a program that supports Aboriginal boys at school by building pride in their identity, culture, and community. Activities include on-Country learning such as fishing, making traditional artefacts and collecting native fruits and vegetables. These experiences help students learn about their culture, connect with the land, and feel supported as they grow and succeed.
Girls on Fire program
Girls on Fire inspires young people from diverse backgrounds to discover their strengths through hands-on fire and emergency service experiences. Our programs spark confidence, teamwork, and resilience — creating leaders who are ready to protect and uplift their communities.
Work Taster program
Our Work Taster program is an opportunity that allows Year 8 and 9 students to gain real-world experience by spending one to two hours each week in a workplace. It is a valuable work-readiness activity, helping students explore interests and shape their future career pathways.
Cultural exchange
Cultural exchange experiences celebrate and strengthen cultural understanding. Our students gain valuable insights into different communities while building meaningful connections and developing new skills.
Try a Trade
